Musée Courbet

Exhibition at the Gustave Courbet Museum, Ornans ( exhibition running alongside the “Versatile Résurgences” project in the “Ferme Courbet” in Flagey) — France, 23.04.2026 — 03.01.2027

This project is imbued with the pictorial legacy of Gustave Courbet, his diverse commitments, and the various sources of inspiration of the artist Paolo Boosten, both artistic and philosophical, as well as his links with the pictorial culture of East Asia.

2026 marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France. As a nod to this event, this exhibition project was entirely created using traditional Korean Hanji paper. Paolo Boosten discovered Hanji during his previous projects in Korea in 2024 and has continued to work with this material and its countless qualities ever since. Mr. SONG Whan-bhum, Director of the Korea University Museum, wrote the foreword to the exhibition catalog of this project.
